Our mission is to provide a positive learning environment which will enable all students to meet state academic standards, to promote accountability among students, parents, and educators, and to present and reinforce desirable character traits within our "Community of Caring" program.
Lego Night
Over 93 families came together at the first Lego night at Grand Oaks Elementary School on Jan. 31. Students and families worked together to creatively build a sea or land animal, a locomotive and a tall building. The tall building models were then brought to a shaker table to test their durability!

Students across the district’s K-8, middle and high schools were invited to attend the event organized in partnership with Black Students of California United (BSCU).

San Juan Unified School District Superintendent Melissa Bassanelli recently received a medical diagnosis that requires her to take a medical leave of absence. During her absence, Chief of Staff Trent Allen will serve as the primary point of contact.

During the 2024-25 school year, select San Juan Unified School District teachers and students participated in a program to evaluate two generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools for students. As a result of the evaluation of these tools, San Juan Unified has purchased a license for Magic Student for grades 2 and above.

Starting mid-September, San Juan Unified School District will roll out its pilot of halal-certified bean and cheese burritos across all schools whenever the item appears on the menu.
